New research has emerged that Crocodiles sleep with one eye open whilst the other is shut to be able to keep a watch out for potential prey or threats.

CrocodileAn experiment took place to see how the crocodiles act whilst around humans.
The study shows that the reptiles are more likely to keep one eye open when a person is present...
If the person was to leave the room, the crocodile would continue to look in the same direction that the person left incase they were to return.

Additionally, a baby crocodile was to be left in a room with a human, its elders would look after/over the crocodile to keep it protected from any potential threats/predators.

The published research from the 'Journal of Experimental Biology' can confirm and prove what scientists have been thinking for a long time which is that crocodiles sleep with one eye open.

CrocodileDr. John Lesku, who led the study says:

"If an animal went to the bank of a river, the crocodile would fully wake up and attack it".

He also adds his personal opinion along with a warning:

"I would certainly never approach a crocodile whether its eyes are open or closed. A good rule is to never approach them".

What I Think About This Article?

Personally, I think this article is overall interesting and eye-opening for me because it gives an insight into what these type of reptiles can do. It also makes you wonder if any other animals with the reptile species can do extraordinary things like this. Additionally, it is also informative as every reader would learn something new about crocodiles.
