A 25 Year old surfer named Colin Cook has had his leg bitten off by a shark in a vicious attack which took place in Hawaii.

The attack took place on the island 'Oahu' where he lives. He was surfing near a popular surfer spot.

Witnesses (Colin's Family and Friends) had also said that the large fish had taken off some of his fingers.

It is known that Colin was sitting on his board awaiting for the next wave to arrive when suddenly the shark jumped out of the water. As Colin was attacked underneath his board, the shark took off his part of his leg from the kneecap. However, he managed to punch the shark many times until is swam away.

His cousin 'Chris Webster' said " He swam on his own free will to another surfer who threw him onto his board and paddled him straight to shore."

After the incident, Colin was immediately taken to dry land to tie a tourquinet around what was left of his leg and awaited the paramedics' arrival for him to be taken to hospital.

The shark was reported to be either a tiger or Galapagos about 10 to 12 feet long, although this has not been confirmed by officials.
