A South London cat murderer also known as the 'Croydon Cat Killer' or 'Jack The Rip-purr', is thought to have murdered a cat in Dulwich, South-East London. In the past, the local killer has murdered in locations in South London such as Thornton Heath, Addiscombe and West Wickham.

A total of over 50 animals, mainly cats have been mutilated, with their heads and tails cut off. It has been thought by criminologists that the killer is keeping the body parts as "trophies" and that the killer could possibly strike at humans.

The Boston Strangler Albert DeSalvo, Milwaukee Cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer, and the students behind the Columbine High School massacre were all cruel to animals prior to attacking humans.

Cat owners have been urged to keep their cats indoors whenever they can, especially at night.

Alongside cases of cat killings, other animals have been reported to have been mutilated. Miss Rising (aged 44) and her partner, Tony Jenkins (aged 51) who run the South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL), have been investigating the cases since September last year. Miss Rising said:
"There have also been cases involving other animals. One bunny was killed and a fox was killed alongside two cats."

So far, Miss Rising and Mr Jenkins have 42 confirmed cases linked to the killer, another 12 which are still being investigated and a dozen other cases which could be linked - bringing the potential death toll to 66.

What Do I Think About This Article?
In my opinion, this article is alarming, especially to locals (such as myself) who live in and around Croydon and the potential areas where animals have been attacked. I think for cat owners this will make them very alert for their cats' safety and their own environment.
