2015 JD Sports Christmas Adverts

Advert 1
This short 35 second advert features the well-known high street brand 'JD Sports' presenting their products during the time of December 2015 before Christmas. The advert mainly has a target audience of Women aged 16 and above. This is clear as throughout the duration of the advert only women appear and appears in the title.

The advert starts with the tagline 'Undisputed Kings of Style'. The adjective 'Undisputed' means unchallenged, meaning the brand believes they are on top with their products and aim to remain to be. The tagline is written in a big, bold gold font with the logo above. This is effective as the target audience and the audience immediately know what the advert is represented by.
The theme colours of the advert remain to be white and gold as is represents the colours of Christmas which the advert targets. Elements of Christmas also appear as there are silver and gold baubles with the JD logo imprinted on, this constantly reminds the audience who the retail company are.

From 0:06 to 0:08, we see a close up of one of the products 'JD' have included in their range. The effect of the white 'New Balance' shoe implies to the audience that the product featured is part of their Christmas Range. It also ties in with the colour scheme.

The genre of this advert is Sport, this is because the products featured are sport brands such as Nike and Adidas. Additionally, the name of the retail company is 'JD Sports', so it hints at the name for the audience and target audience what the company mainly sell. This is ideal for women and others who may not be familiar of company.

At the end of the advert, a similar screen to the opening screen appears showing the logo and tagline alongside with the website 'www.jdsports.co.uk' appearing at the bottom. 



Advert 2
The 2015 'JD Sports' Christmas Advert for Juniors has a target audience of Juniors (Youth). This ranges from young people aged 8 to 16. 

The advert has a duration of 35 seconds.

Similarly, in comparison to the women's advert, the opening screen also features the logo in white and gold and the tagline which reads 'Undisputed Kings of Style' which is written in big, bold gold. This sits on a white background. In addition to this, the advert also has a colour theme/scheme of white and gold which makes the advert simple yet eye-catching as it allows the products that are being presented to stand out for the target audience.

 

The close up of the brand 'Nike' is eye-catching for the target audience of Juniors as stereotypically, this is what juniors are interested and attracted to. In terms of psychographics, they are aspirers as they follow the trends of people who are older than them such as their friends and family.
